Dear Friends on What Used to be Twitter-
We will miss you VERY much! Remember back when we’d do “live Tweet” sessions about addiction and recovery issues? Theme weeks? Tweet threads on the latest research? And you have always been so generous in retweeting, sharing, liking, and bringing new and interesting information about treatment and recovery to our attention.
We joined What Used to be Twitter back in 2012 – what a long time ago that seems! We made so many great friends in those early days, before the troll swarms and bot armies invaded. Literally thousands of you clicked “follow” to stay in touch and get regular updates about addiction, treatment, and recovery. And so many of you followed links in our tweets, to find resources on our ad-free, nothing-to-sell, quality-information-for-all website.
We wanted to be there for you, to stay accessible, to keep the good information flowing – so when What Used to be Twitter became what it is now, we stayed, hoping against hope that at some point, the once-wonderful social medium would be restored to health. Recent swarms of spammers and trolls originating on What Used to be Twitter, however, have posed an increasing problem for our little website’s spam filters and moderation, and so we have reluctantly made the decision to cease engagement on the service.
We hope you will consider following us to our new social media “home” on Bluesky, where as @recoverysi.bsky.social we will continue providing the same helpful, non-commercial, quality information for people in recovery, treatment clinicians, rehab programs, and everyone who has a friend or family member suffering with substance misuse troubles.
You will always be in our hearts!
Your Friends at RecoverySI
